The repeatedly referenced this sauce. I wanted to try it, so I ordered a couple of bottles. It's not the same color, but to me it tasted almost identical to Heinz There was an extra sweetness to it, but it was pretty subtle.
I assume that's from the tamarind. If you're ordering this product, your either an ex-pat wanting something familiar, or your like me and you want to expand your food horizons.
You'll probably order it just to confirm my impressions. I know i probably would. It's good, doesn't cost much and I received it quickly and in good condition, so I say go for it.
It's not bad, I'll just get Heinz 57 in the future. I had a problem w breakage but that was resolved. Not too far from A-1 in favour, I developed a taste for this on my trips to Canada and now nothing else will do.
Not too sweet or very tomatoe based. I have yet to see if this British grade is the same as Heinze US stuff. Even the Heinze is better.
I hope it like the original pre-Heinze formula. I tell my family that this sauce caused Brexit, because I understand The Heinze Co was unwilling to make a seperate version to meet EU rules.
In any case I prefer over A1. I have used HP sauce since I was a child and I am now 90 in England, we used to have it on sausages as well as with cheese, cold meats.

It is sort of, kind of, a cross between 57 and A1 steak sauces, but it's much tangier in flavor. I put it on a sandwich at lunch today and it was quite good.
Not sure what else this would go well with but I plan to find out. Give it a try, I think you'll like it! It's the all purpose sauce of the Empire and it's not something I think about in the States since it's not common here, but when I travel I get reminded how good it is an all purpose sauce that's several steps up from catsup and better than most steak sauces.
It's similar to Heinz 57 or Kroger's sauce , but perhaps a bit more refined. Of note is that it is a Heinz product.
It's a bit more vinegary than 57 to my recollection. It's a bit more of a punch in the nose. I did feel more posh when using it, though.
